Hey guys, new to this section.
wondering what map chips are the best for showing alll the contour lines and hump on the lake, mostly near waverly shoals.
I currently have navionics Hotmaps Platinum Canada, and I was not impressed with the lack of detail.
Would LakeMaster chip be better?

Navionics is better imo. On big lakes like Erie no maps are accurate like we want them to be, they just haven't been mapped precisely. You don't really need to pin point the fish on Erie, its a large mostly featureless lake and the walleye and perch are always roaming, we troll until we find them and then keep on them. Its full of walleye, not hard to limit out when we find them.

x2 on the navionics. For the price it cant be beat. I dont have a fish finder with a map thou so cant say for sure. Just on my phone and i can find rockpiles with ease.

For walleye and perch dont need a fish finder just troll around all the boats lol

if you want to catch 3-4 lb bass all day, yes just stay in 8-12ft of water by the bays and catch them all day. but if you like the 5-7lb range they are mostly offshore on theose irregular humps and table tops. i had them marked before but for somereason have lost my marks and i cannot see the tabletops anymore, i was maybe thinking that it was when i had my lakemaster chips in.
i was just trying to get all of your opinions aswell,
have any of you used a lakemaster? and navionics to be able to compare between the two?

5 and 7 pound bass? Pictures or it didn't happen! LOL joking aside. Sorry I have never used Lakemaster so cant help there. Hopefully someone chimes in. But isn't it better if these hotspots are not on any maps? LOL I would mark them when you find them and keep them to yourself.

Oh yes ive been on boats when those big ones were being pulled in,
just last weekend my 4 year old reeled in a 4.2 smallie.
Just because those contours are on the maps, doesn't mean that everyone knows how to read them in terms of finding fish and what times of day those spots would work best aswell.
And then you have to catch them lol

Yes I switched from Navionics to Lakemaster. They seem to be a bit better I find for Erie. Lakemaster is also part of the Johnson Outdoors group who also own Humminbird so there are also more available functions/options when using both item together.
You actually need the Lakemaster if you are linking a Minnkota with your Humminbird to have the follow the contour function
