Lake Erie

Yellow perch anglers have begun to out number the walleye anglers. Fish were caught out of Bolles Harbor, Luna Pier, near the E-Buoy and the Dumping Grounds in 22 to 24 feet on spreader rigs with orange and chartreuse spinners. Fish were marked across the lake but very few limits were taken, usually 20 to 60 perch per boat in 4-6 hours.  Most fish were 8-10 inches. Limits of walleye were caught on spoons along the Dumping Ground, crank baits in 20 feet in Brest Bay or between Stony Point and Fermi in 22 to 27 feet with bandits or when trolling a purple, pink or chartreuse crawler harness.  Those targeting walleye and perch also caught white bass, white perch, freshwater drum and some large channel cats.  Largemouth bass were caught on spinners and twister tails at the south end of Pte. Mouillee State Game Area.

Lake Erie: Yellow perch were caught out of Bolles Harbor in 16 feet and near the E-Buoy and the Dumping Grounds in 22 to 24 feet on spreader rigs with green spinners and crappie rigs with orange and chartreuse.  A few limit catches were taken along the Dumping Grounds and the E-Buoy with orange or chartreuse spoons with deep divers, wiggle warts, crank baits or hot-n-tots.  Walleye limits were taken in 25 feet off the River Raisin with fire-tiger crank baits or in 21 to 23 feet between Stony Point and Fermi with bandits or when trolling a green, purple or chartreuse crawler harness.  White bass, white perch, freshwater drum and large channel cats were also caught.  Those targeting the Hot Ponds were taking a good number of catfish on shrimp or crawlers.  Largemouth bass were hitting spinners and twister tails at the mouth of the River Raisin and the Hot Ponds.

Lake Erie:  Limits of yellow perch were caught in 16 feet near the red buoy out of Bolles Harbor or in 22 to 25 feet near the E-Buoy and the Dumping Grounds.  Most were using minnows on perch rigs with green, orange and chartreuse spinners, and crappie rigs.  The better fishing was in the morning between 6-11 a.m.  Walleye limits were reported early morning or late evening off the River Raisin in 21 to 23 feet with a blue and purple crawler harness or between Stony Point and Fermi with bandits or a green, purple or chartreuse crawler harness.  White bass, white perch, and large channel cats continue to be caught.  The Hot Ponds were producing a good number of catfish for those using shrimp or crawlers.  Smallmouth bass were hitting on crank baits in Brest Bay or jigs off Otter Creek.

Lake Erie: Local storms slowed the perch bite, but a few boats were still able to catch their limits. Fish were found in 22 to 25 feet near the E-Buoy and the Dumping Grounds, in 16 to 18 feet near the red buoy out of Bolles Harbor, in 14 to 16 feet in Brest Bay, and in 25 to 26 feet off Fermi. Most were using minnows on perch rigs with green, orange and chartreuse spinners and crappie rigs. The best fishing was found between 6 and 11 a.m. Walleye limits were reported near the Dumping Grounds on spoons and in 21 to 23 feet between Stony Point and Fermi with green, purple, blue or chartreuse crawler harnesses. While perch fishing anglers also caught white bass, white perch, freshwater drum and large channel catfish. The Hot Ponds produced good numbers of catfish for those using crawlers and those bow fishing the same area got moderately-sized common carp and various sized gar. Smallmouth bass were caught off the mouth of the River Raisin using green pumpkin tubes and drop-shot rigs, and around and within Bolles Harbor.

Lake Erie:  Storms slowed the perch bite and high winds have kept boats off the water.  When they could get out, fish were found in 22 to 24 feet near the E-Buoy and the Dumping Grounds, 14 to 15 feet in Brest Bay or in 25 to 26 feet between Stony Point and Fermi.  Most were using minnows on perch rigs with green, orange and chartreuse spinners.  The walleye action slowed but a few were found near the Dumping Grounds with bandits, in 21 to 23 feet between Stony Point and Fermi or in 25 feet off the River Raisin with a green, purple, blue or chartreuse crawler harness. The Hot Ponds continue to produce good numbers of catfish when using crawlers or chicken liver.  White bass, white perch and freshwater drum continue to be caught.  Pointe Mouillee had good bass and pike fishing.
