Niagara River Fishing Report - Mar 2020
« on: March 08, 2020, 08:25:32 AM »
March 8, 2020

Heavily stained water shut down fishing for most of this past week. Conditions have improved and anglers are back out fishing in cloudy green waters today. Prior to the turbid conditions, boaters were catching good numbers of steelhead, with some brown trout, lake trout and occasional walleye mixed in. Controlled drifting with three-way rigs and live shiners, egg sacs or trout beads works well for trout. Shore anglers at the State Parks in the gorge have been catching predominantly steelhead. Be aware that walleye season closes on March 15 at end of day. The New York Power Authority angler access (platform, stairs to shoreline and parking lot) typically open for season on April 1, weather permitting.
