Oct 29, 2021

Lake Erie: Anglers were catching a few walleye while trolling in 15 to 17 feet of water in Brest Bay. Anglers were having fair catches of yellow perch while fishing off Stoney Point in 23 feet of water. Steady catches of yellow perch were also occurring near buoys 1 & 2 at River Raisin and at the southern part of the dumping grounds. Largemouth bass were caught off the rock walls between Sterling State Park and around the mouth of the River Raisin. Walleye were hitting best on body baits, crank baits and husky jerks. Bass were biting well on tubes and crank baits.

Lake St. Clair / Lake St Clair Fishing Reports - Oct 2021

Lake St. Clair: The perch action was great straight out from 9 Mile and near Gross Point. Anglers were having the best luck with minnow rigs in 9 to15 feet of water. Some walleye were caught in 14 feet of water by the St. Clair light house. Near limit catches of walleye were caught in the mouth of the north channel near Decker's Landing in 18 to 21 feet of water by anglers jigging with artificial baits. Smallmouth bass anglers had some luck in the shipping channel on spinner baits. Other bass anglers were fishing the Detroit River mouth in 9 feet of water with ned rigs and had good luck. Musky were biting in the mouth of the north channel in around 18 feet of water on small lures. There were nice catches of blue gill coming in from the marinas near the Raft restaurant in Fairhaven.

Niagara River / Niagara River Fishing Report - Oct 2021

Oct 29, 2021

Fall is traditionally a top time to target muskellunge around the upper Niagara River. Target musky by casting large stickbaits or by drifting and jigging large tube jigs (8"-10"). Trolling around the outer Buffalo Harbor breakwall gaps can produce a musky catch as well.

Lower Niagara River king salmon fishing has slowed and the better fishing is seemingly behind us. Anglers are starting to catch some steelhead and incidental lake trout. Be aware lake trout season is closed on the lower river until December 1st. Incidentally caught lake trout should be promptly released. When steelhead show in earnest, they are typically available in good numbers for boaters in the Devils Hole and Artpark drifts, and at the NYPA fishing platform and Artpark, Devils Hole and Whirlpool State Parks for shore anglers. Controlled drifting with bottom bouncing rigs with egg sacs or trout beads works well for boaters. Good offerings for shore anglers include egg sacs, trout beads, egg flies, shiners or jigs fished under a float and casted spoons and spinners.

Steelhead Alley / Lake Erie Steelhead Reports - Oct 2021

Waders were previously seeing decent to good steelhead action on Cattaraugus Creek. The smaller Lake Erie tributaries were producing some decent fish too, but action was spottier. With cooling temperatures and two runoff events in the past week, all reaches of all tributaries should be options now. At report time, Cattaraugus Creek was high and muddy. Some of the smaller Chautauqua County streams are in fishable shape today. The Erie County streams are a bit high at present, but could be options this weekend.

Lake St. Clair / Lake St Clair Fishing Reports - Sept 2021
« Last post by LEO on September 18, 2021, 06:38:49 AM »
Sept 18, 2021

Lake St. Clair: Many small sized perch were caught in the north and south channel mouths, near Strawberry Island, Grassy Island and on Goose Bay. Walleye catches were small, but some anglers caught a few in 14 to 17 feet of water in front of the spillway near the Clinton River Cutoff launch area and from the northern part of Anchor Bay. A few musky anglers caught fish in front of the spillway, but the action was very slow. Smallmouth bass action was best in the mouth of the north channel and from the Clinton River Cutoff launch to 14 Mile Road. Bass anglers fishing near the mile roads did best while jigging with drop shot because the weeds were very heavy.

Lake Erie / Re: Lake Erie Fishing Reports - August 2021

Lake Erie: The occasional walleye was found while trolling the state line from River Raisin past Fermi Power Plant. Increased angling effort for yellow perch found some success out in front of Fermi Power Plant and out by buoy 1 and buoy 2 while using minnows. Bass anglers did well catching largemouth bass in Brest Bay along the shore and out from River Raisin with the occasional smallmouth. Yellow perch were said to be caught in small schools anywhere from 17 to 26 feet of water. Bass were caught on artificial frog lures.
