Detroit River: Anglers were catching smallmouth and largemouth bass on the lower end of the river while trolling and casting artificial baits, and also some were caught near shore on Lake Erie. Some walleye were caught in the lower river by anglers jigging or trolling with artificial lures and with crawler harnesses. Some northern pike were caught off Mud Island. Anglers were beginning to catch perch mostly in the mouth at Erie but no real numbers to speak of yet.

Lake St. Clair: Anglers reported catching smallmouth bass at Metropark in 12 feet of water, but the larger smallmouth bass were found in deep water and near the channels. Perch were caught near buoys 26 and 28. Successful anglers were moving a lot and trolling with crawler harnesses. Muskie and sturgeon anglers were doing well. Walleye were caught in the north end of the lake with some anglers catching limits.

Lake Erie: Anglers were battling algae blooms and strong winds outside of Fermi. Fish were scattered; however, a few people were still catching them on crawler harnesses in 18 to 21 feet of water. Silver for the harness blade was popular in that area. Those going south to the dumping grounds out from Luna Pier saw mild successes running crawler harnesses still, but with the weather fishing was slow. Yellow perch fishing has yet to pick up in mass, but early anglers were catching them on minnows closer into shore, around 10 to 12 feet. Smallmouth bass fishing has been steadily picking up with anglers catching them on artificial lures.

Lake Erie: Walleye fishing was slow. Anglers were going to the same places with the same gear and only about half were coming back successful with full limits with the other half getting half limits or less. Anglers that were getting them were still going three miles straight out from Fermi in 19 to 21 feet using suspended crawler harnesses off the bottom about four feet. Pink and silver, and reds remained good colors for the harness blades. Another spot that showed a bit of promise was four and a half miles out from Luna Pier where walleye were hitting on purple or orange flicker shad lures. A few anglers were targeting yellow perch with mild to low success using minnow rigs in about 15 feet of water. Bass fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass was good on artificial lure bass rigs closer to shore.

Detroit River: Anglers were doing well catching walleye, with many anglers getting limits. Anglers fishing between the Ambassador Bridge and Ecorse were trolling with crawlers in 35 to 40 feet of water. Anglers fishing between the Trenton channel and Lake Erie Metropark were having the best luck in high current areas in 10 to 11 feet of water while trolling with crawlers and bandits. Many anglers were catching large numbers of white bass near the Trenton channel but were reporting that the females were not in, so the run had not peaked yet.

Detroit River: The walleye catch slowed down, but anglers were still catching fish. Over the weekend the catch picked back up, but some anglers struggled. Wyandotte and Ecorse areas were producing the best catches. The Ambassador Bridge area to the Belle Isle Bridge was also a good area to fish. Blue Ice was a hot color. Anglers were using jigs tipped with minnows and had the best luck finding walleye in 23 to 35 feet of water. A few anglers were coming in with white bass but not many yet.
